About Bingo!
How much do you know about the history of bingo? Did you know that
originally it was actually called beano (nothing to do with the

Number games have been around for thousands of years (it is know
that egyptians were big fans) but Bingo in its modern incarnation
is a relatively recent invention. A lotto style game was played
in renaissance Italy, but it wasnt until the depression era that
a game close to bingo (with a caller) was developed in the mid west
of the USA. A traveling salesman "discovered" such a game
where the winner called "beano" when he had "house"
mainly as the game was played using beans to mark the numbers. By
a quirk of fate he misheard this as "Bingo!" but saw that
it was a game that could be easily marketed.
